About Montessori
A Brief History

Dr. Maria Montessori, born 1870 in Italy, was trained as a medical doctor and dedicated her life to become one the most influential educators in the 20th century. Her unique ability to observe children and gain insight into their development, led her to design the education method, which is known worldwide as the “Montessori Method”.

The essence of independence is to be able to do something for one’s self. – M. Montessori

Dr. Montessori not only believed in supporting each child to fulfill their own potential, but also that every person should be an active member of their own community and make their own unique contribution to the world.
