At House of Kids, our Montessori 6 – 12 program is designed to guide children through an exciting journey of intellectual, social, and emotional development. Building on the Montessori philosophy, this program encourages curiosity, independence, and collaboration while fostering a love for learning in a supportive environment. We are a licensed private school and follow the Swiss curriculum Lehrplan 21 using a Montessori approach and Montessori Materials.
The child who has felt a strong love for his surroundings and for all living things, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us reason to hope…hope for peace in the future.
This phase is marked by children’s growing curiosity about the world and their desire to understand it in depth. Our program for children aged 6 to 12 nurtures this natural curiosity through hands-on learning, project-based exploration, and cooperative group work. Key elements include:
- Cosmic Education: Introducing the child to the interconnection of all things through stories, experiments, hands-on materials, and exploration.
- Individualized Learning: Tailored lessons to meet each child’s unique developmental needs and interests.
- Freedom with Responsibility: Balancing choice and accountability to build critical thinking and self-discipline.
- Global Perspective: Cultivating respect for diverse cultures, people, and the environment.
Our carefully structured schedule balances academic work, creative exploration, and physical activity.
- Montessori Work Cycle: The heart of the Montessori day, where students work on individualized or group activities, using Montessori materials to explore subjects like mathematics, language, history, geography, and science. The classroom is not enough and our children go on regular excursions to broaden their knowledge of the world around them.
- Project-Based Learning: Encourages teamwork and critical thinking, allowing children to dive deeply into topics of interest. We value group work and social interactions during the learning process.
- Physical Activity: Dedicated time for movement and sports to support healthy physical development and teamwork.
- Optional Courses: Tailored to students’ needs and interests, from preparatory courses for gymnasium in upper elementary to extracurricular enrichment.
- After-School Care: Flexible hours ensure support for working families while allowing children to unwind in a nurturing environment.
- Experienced Guides: Our Montessori-trained educators bring years of experience and passion for nurturing children’s growth.
- Beautifully Prepared Environment: Our classrooms are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and concentration.
- Community-Oriented: We foster a close-knit, supportive community among children, families, and educators.
